According to the loan data given by cooperative banks to NABARD(National Bank Of Agriculture & Rural Development), farmers of Delhi are doing more agriculture than farmers of West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh & Uttar Pradesh. Loans taken from cooperatives by these farmers of Delhi are being massively misused.
Rs 22,077 crore loan is being issued to the farmers of Delhi at low 5% rate of interest, which is second highest in the country after agriculture rich Punjab.
Delhi has got total 39000 hector of cropped land. Net area shown is 26785 hector. Big business men in Delhi have these lands in form of farmhouses. They have taken loans from area cooperatives, citing agriculture as their profession they even have Kissan Credit Cards issued by cooperatives which covers a loan of Rs 15000/- per hector. The process is quite easy & without any security. According to a official these farmhouses deals with agriculture but only flowers & vegetables.
